Students!
Hello my fellow student-y minded friends. They are offering a wonderful course at Carleton this summer [May-June], but they are currently just shy of enough people being enrolled for it to run. Hence, consider this a somewhat desperate [ha ha] plea for anyone looking to take a summer course. It's a third year women's studies course on activism. The prof is awesome and the reading list makes it look like it will be a barrel of monkeys.
Edit: Got the prof to email me the actual description again:
WOMN 3003 A: Selected Topics on Gender and Women's Studies: ˜Third Wave Feminisms: Monday and Wednesday, 18:05 – 20:55. This seminar explores feminist thought and action which is being called third wave feminism. We will examine readings and cultural products – films, videos, music, ‘zines, websites, etc. – to interrogate what this label means, and how theories and practices intersect in third wave feminism. Students will explore underlying concepts of third wave including generational age, ideological position and historical moment. The course is structured around theory and writings from anthologies including Listen Up, To Be Real, Colonize This!, Manifesta, Third Wave Agenda, Catching A Wave and Turbo Chicks, as well as from key articles that make connections to past feminist movements.
Please pass on to anyone who may be interested. Please!
