One of Phil's prof's, Keith Fagnou, died yesterday. The rumor is that he died from H1N1 complications. I had attended one of his Organic Chemistry lectures and he was a wonderful lecturer (for some reason, the University of Ottawa has some GREAT young chemistry profs). He was a big asset to the university being very bilingual, BRILLIANT (he won the Polanyi Prize and got tenure) and quite young he had a very promising career ahead of him. Very sad.

Now for the lighter side of things.

I guess the most exciting news is that I am thinking heavily on moving in May, after I am done exams. I am tired of living in a room and having my "kitchen" so close to my bed. This isn't because I am trying to escape ghosts of abusive boyfriends past or anything like that. Everyone at work has been buying houses and I have visions of a "living room" dancing though my head. More to come...

Got more plastic junk yesterday: Orange and Indigo Lantern rings. 4 down (black, yellow, orange, indigo), 4 to go (blue, violet, red and green). Mine...mine...mine...mine...

Apparently Journalism becoming is a very unstable career pretty quickly.

Geoff Johns to write two hour Justice Society "Smallville" movie. One day I expect to see the headline "Geoff Johns fires all DC writers and single-handedly pens all the DC titles." Is there anything he ISN'T writing? Okay, there is Batman and Robin...and Batman...and JL...and...but you know what I mean.

Also, Gail Simone says she is writing a "Brave and the Bold" episode...hmmm...

08:58 am - MAN Fangirls are annoying.
Some days I miss liking anime. I just find it really hard to sit down and watch it when there is just so many AMAZING shows on television. Not to mention, having been an animator, a lot of it becomes painful to watch. :S They warned me it would ruin anime. It did.

That being said, there are a few "old titles" I still watch and could potentially get into a new series but I am picky and bitter. :P

...feel free to make suggestions. Not "Naruto" or "Death Note." :S

(This was inspired by a post by Spate. Spate: "11 Eyes" that good?)

That being said, I did download the first episode of the second season of "Legend of the Seeker." XD

First of all - Lisa - I emailed you. :D SO PROUD. Took over an hour to write so please enjoy. :)

I have the power to instill great fear. Well not really. But I got my Sinestro Corps ring! Two down, six to go. While it is great for you ppl with big hands, these are loose even on my thumbs. Am trying to come up with some way to display the rings. Realistically, I need a new place. I keep dreaming of moving into something with a living room to house my beloved stuff. I. Am. Not. A. Minimalist. Two more years at least. Bleh.

My "weekend" was very low key. Went to bed before 10 the past 4 days. Halloween took the last bit of energy out of me. Will be going to bed early tonight too.

Been "marathoning" through Doctor Who (halfway through season 4) so Phil can watch "Waters of Mars" with me this Sunday (looks pretty freaking sweat. I can't wait for the return of the Master in the subsequent specials :D :D - Also Timothy Dalton in Doctor Who? Tee heee...). Still a freaking awesome series. Not looking forward to the cast change. I will give it a chance obviously.

Despite it being very draining (fell asleep on Phil's floor after my shift) I have fun at Tiggywinkles. Worked 7 hours on Sunday, learned more about our products (where things are made and about concerns parents have regarding toys, like what the paint is made out of), played with the kids and resisted urges to use the 30% employee discount. :S I wore a yellow creepy-crawler on my shoulder (we are very encouraged to play with the toys while working) and when my manager asked me about my "friend" I responded, "That's George. It's a girl." She seemed to like that response and asked me to switch colours when all the yellow ones sold. :P I am sure I will have lots of time to get sick of the job but right now it's fun despite it sapping all the energy I have. :)

So...I guess you are looking at Mrs. Tiggywinkles latest seasonal employee. My "test shift" last night went well and I was invited back for Sunday when I get my schedule. My manager and I will get along JUST FINE (He is a nerd and I am pretty sure I got the job because I go in occasionally and talk comics with him. He loves Doctor Who and was surprised when I recognized Nick Cave - he was practically answering the interview questions FOR me. My vinyl toy knowledge also helped quite a bit). I will be working my full time day job with Health Canada (40 hours/week) and at the toy store (20-35 hours a week @ minimum wage). I will be exhausted but it means I can afford to continue to go to school in January.

See you in May?

I was on the bus yesterday and I ACTUALLY felt chills go down my spine. The following was an advertisement on the bus:

"Safe From Contagion
Looking for immunity? Find out why many are turning to prayer for help.

Immunity from contagion is on everyone's mind. Is there a way to assure immunity that is both safe and effective? Hear a talk on 'Safe from Contagion' by international speaker Marcel DeLacy, practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing."

Taken from the website:
"In the late 1800s, Mary Baker Eddy wrote, "A calm, Christian state of mind is a better preventive of contagion than a drug, or than any other possible sanative method; and the perfect Love 'that casteth out fear' is a sure defense." (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 229)"

I really hope I don't have to explain the absurdity of this to anyone. I will be pretty disappointed if I do.

09:18 pm - Halloween 2009
Hallowe'en. So awesome. Yeah.

Friday night I went to the Heroes and Villains party hosted by the Comic Book Shoppe and hosted at the Atomic Rooster on bank. There was a couple on a date, clearly unaware of the party before making the date. The woman looked very unimpressed and the man looked mortified. Can't say that I blame them. 60 plus nerds in costumes? Kinda scary. Kinda awesome... :D High school friends, animation friends, comic book shoppe friends and other nerd friends...Awesome.

I wish Hallowe'en fell on a Saturday every year! Chris and Jenny hosted their usual Hallowe'en bash and topped themselves yet again (see photos)! The biggest surprise was Heather and Mark showing up in Ottawa all fancied up! I kept looking at Heather thinking, "That LOOKS like Heather but she is in Toronto." IT WAS HEATHER! :D :D :D

Instead of rambling on I will post stolen photos taken by friends (photographers include Mark, Kristin, Mason, Jenny, Antonia, Phil, myself, and others)! Some of them are personal favorites and others are a few random shots from the parties. Enjoy!

My Costume - Junko Mizuno's Pure Trance - Finally full on costume shots )

Phil's costume - Superboy/Kon-El - Lazy but accurate )

Chris n' Jenny's party - me bragging about how awesome my friends are at costuming )

Marie and Pierre Curie - A personal favorite of mine )

Been up to my usual...trolling the internet...griefing...writing furry fanfics...you know...the usual...

Anyways...HALLOWE'EN! EEEEEiiiiiiii!!!@$#*$#%@)@!!!!

So yeah...have been sewing up a storm. In case you missed it, I am going as the nurse from Pure Trance by Junko Mizuno. Before you say "That's WAY too obscure Andrea. No one will ever know who you are dressed up as." Just two cubicles away, my co-worker took one look at me and said: "Pure Trance right?" HA! Not just my friends will get it. Yes...I am wearing my costume at work...my boss okay-ed it. Do you know me at all?

Shot of nurse hat, dress and apron with blood.

Moar photos of my Halloween costume )

Where the Wild Things Are was brilliant. Reminded me of the trials and tribulations of childhood. Not always as easy as it looks. It's too bad so many teenagers walked out halfway through. I just don't think they got it.

EDIT:
HAHAHA:
Dad on gtalk:
What is Phil going as?
Sent at 3:23 PM on Friday
me: Superboy: http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/2/25015/450270-superboy_super.jpg
He sort of looks like him.
And he bought the T-shirt a while ago because he liked it.
Dad on gtalk: Did he get the tight jeans also?
me: LOL...yeah
(My dad is TOTALLY making fun of Phil...LOL)
