10:09 am - Remember How I Made You Scream
Man, I would just about kill for any copy of Danny Michel and Luke Doucet covering Tom Waits' 'In the Neighbourhood.' Granted, I know it was years ago that they toured together and did it as a duet for an encore, but... someone must have a copy, right? I have the lyrics scribbled down by Luke [to remember them on stage], but they hardly have the same effect.

Why? Because, as the brainchild of the lovely krk, there will be a superb cover songs party in the not-too-distant future!

C'mon... doesn't that sound stellar? A [dance?] party based solely on an amassed collection of weird and wonderful covers of just about any and all songs you could imagine.

Feel free to suggest some of your favourites in the comments. Aww yeah!

+ Muse - Feeling Good
+ Kelly Osbourne - Papa Don't Preach (I like it :P)
+ Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Phenomenon (if you haven't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRl0-ya5nM4 - Sorry it is an AMV)
+ Johnny Cash - Hurt
+ T.a.t.u - How Soon is Now (I like it. But then again, I have bad taste in music)
+ Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb (I think we might have already had that one)
+ Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide
+ Richard Cheese and the Lounge Against the Machine - Anything by him.
+ Sonic Youth - Superstar
+ Nancy Sinatra - "Bang, Bang (My Baby Shot me Down)"
+ The Animals or Santa Esmerelda - "Don't Let me be Misunderstood"

There are some Final Fantasy songs he plays in concert that I haven't been able to find. Miriah Carey's "Fantasy", Peter Gabriel's "This Modern Love", "Paris 1919", "Interview", etc. But they are hard to find. I don't think he has ever recorded them.

Also, Nirvana Unplugged has some good covers.

I don't think you should be allowed to do anything that samples another song. As good as some of them are, it opens things up to some bleh stuff.

I vote against the cover the Genesis song "Land of Confusion." - Forget who covers it.

That's all I have right now. I am sure others will pop into my head.

Oh man, those are awesome. Have you heard the Arcade Fire's cover of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Maps'? Oh yes.

Another classic I thought of today: Cake's cover of 'I Will Survive.'

Your list is fricken stellar. I am so stoked for this. Definitely feeling you on the Richard Cheese. He's too perfect.

I agree with the samples, too. A completely different genre. Same with mashups. While I adore them, that's a whole different party... maybe.

Oh! And Re: Phenomenon: A friend of mine played it for me and I kept asking him if it was a cover of what I thought I was, and he kept telling me it wasn't... and I thought I was crazy. I should know better, ha!

I knew you'd be all over that one. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send it to you.

Exactly! And [dating myself here, ha], I totally remember when it came out because I was in OAC Algebra/Geometry [I believe] and one of my friends would annoyingly sing it as 'something like a parabola' over and over and over again.

Jess to the rescue!

Okay, it's not really a rescue, but still. Totally awesome.

A local band, Starling, used to do a hilarious cover of Take On Me as well, but I doubt I'll be able to find a copy at this point.
